Vanadinite

*from Apex mine, San Carlos, Manuel Benavides Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico.
*50 x 25 x 18 mm overall with clusters reaching 15 mm. 

The Apex mine was a small oxidized magnetite-rich zinc-lead skarn in the Sierra San Carlos. It was operated through the 1950s by ASARCO and best known for outstanding vanadinite and wulfenite. In 2018 and 2019 major finds of vanadinite were made that overshadowed all previous finds. This one is from the 2018 & 2019. This one is one of the best I have ever seen. This is a great large thumbnail or miniature.
