Spectrolite is a rare form of labradorite that is mined exclusively in Ylämaa, Finland, and officially recognized as Finland's national gemstone. Discovered during WWII defense construction in 1940, it differs from ordinary labradorite by having an opaque dark base and displaying a rich, full-spectrum iridescence reminiscent of the Northern Lights.
