This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of crystallized Lapland gold.
Gold mining in the Lemmenjoki River valley—located within Lemmenjoki National Park in Inari, Finnish Lapland—began in earnest during a major post-WWII gold rush in 1945. Traditional panning and small-scale manual prospecting continue in the area today. This offers a glimpse into this rugged, remote wilderness. In 1945 Niilo Ranttila, triggered a rush that brought dozens of prospectors. Lemmenjoki became Finland's most famous modern goldfield, yielding fine flakes and small nuggets. Heavy machinery mining was banned in Lemmenjoki National Park in 2011, but traditional hand-panning and recreational prospecting remain active under specific regulations. The harsh environment, both summer and winter, mean that only those with severe sisu mine here!
