Chevron Amethyst Cabochon

Chevron amethyst is created as amethyst grows consuming all the iron and manganese in the environment. This allows the white quartz to grow. Something happens in the environment floods it with more iron or manganese rich solutions allowing amethyst to grow again. This can happen over and over forming multiple white bands in the same rock. It's kind of a fluke of nature that produces this stunning material.
